So who’s behind MyIdeaGuy.com?

Hi, my name is Stu McLaren and since 2004 I’ve been helping entrepreneurs grow their business by teaching them how to leverage the marketing power of the internet.

During that time I’ve been fortunate to have built (and sold) several successful internet businesses thanks to a great support network of family, friends and wonderful mentors.

The most effective way to describe me is by using these 6 words:

MAKE MORE – Now my efforts are centered around building on the early success of our latest venture, WishList Products.  It’s a company I co-founded with my good friend and business partner Tracy Childers.  Our first product, WishList Member, is now described by many as the best solution for building online communities and membership sites.

I’m extremely proud of the business we’ve built and I’m very grateful to have such a wonderful team of hard working and talented people  continuously looking for ways we can add more value for our customers.

GIVE MORE – A lot of my time is also invested in our Canadian Charity (World Teacher Aid) that my lovely wife and I started in 2007.  The focus of the charity is to improve the education provided in rural communities throughout developing countries – particularly Kenya, Uganda, Ghana and El Salvador.

I give a tremendous amount of credit to my wife Amy for opening my eyes to the true opportunity we have as entrepreneurs to be able to create for others.  The charity trips that we make every year are a real-world reminder that the more money we make in our business, the more impact we can have by distributing it to those in need.

LIVE MORE – Life is such a beautiful thing  and as hard as I work on growing our business and charity, I also feel it’s equally important to take the time to enjoy what life has to offer with family and friends.

So if I’m not in my office I’m likely traveling with my wife, playing soccer, driving my Mini Cooper or doing crazy things like white water rafting, bunjee jumping or flying a jet plane

None of this would be possible if I didn’t have an amazing wife, a tremendously supportive family and a fantastic group of friends.

(plus I get a lot of love from my Golden Retriever, Obie!)

I’m extremely fortunate to be surrounded by such a loving group of people who continually pick me up when I get knocked down, challenge me to reach my full potential and keep me in check so that I always remain humble.

I love all sports (especially soccer, basketball, hockey, badminton and running), I am a ketchup fanatic and if U2, Coldplay or Kings of Leon are in town, I’m there singing at the top of my lungs!

What’s next in this crazy adventure?

Amy and I want to continue to help communities throughout rural Africa grow, see more of the world and hopefully have the opportunity to meet and get to know people like Bono (from U2), Lance Armstrong, Michael Jordan, Steve Jobs, Ellen DeGeneres, Oprah, Larry King, Mark Cuban, Tom Peters and many more!

Who knows what will happen in the next 5, 10 or 50 years, but what I do know is that I’m going to have a damn good time no matter what happens
