Sometimes I come across things in business and smack my head in disbelief that something so obvious would go unnoticed (I’ll share a recent example in a minute).
The truth of the matter is, most small business owners have fallen victim to these types of things which I call “Business Blind Spots”.
You probably know what I’m talking about…
They are poor judgments, mistakes or blunders that seem blatantly obvious to someone outside of the company but to someone who’s running it, they go unnoticed.
Here’s an example of one I found at the Orlando airport…

Have you ever eaten at a restaurant or cafe and had an experience you couldn’t forget?
Perhaps it was the delicious food or great service.
Or maybe it was a bad experience that left you with a “bitter” taste in your mouth.

Here’s an example…
Recently my wife and I had lunch at one of our local cafe’s. So the question is, was it a good experience or bad experience? Read on to find out…

Recently I read an article by marketer Clayton Makepeace on the topic of “Secrets”.
It immediately pulled me in and by the end of the article my mind was racing with new ideas for upcoming promotions and campaigns.
With permission, I’m sharing the article verbatim below.

If you are an entrepreneur, you probably live and die by all your ideas.
Personally, I love great ideas.
When I see unique and unusual business ideasкомпютри, my mind goes into overdrive and I immediately start thinking about all kinds of new possibilities.

His demonstration was so impactful that it completely altered the way I approach business.
Here’s what happened…

Recently, I was engaged in a fascinating conversation.
A bunch of guys on my soccer team and I were discussing (of all things)… getting our hair cut!
It all started when someone made a comment about my freshly groomed crop. Well that comment led to another and before I knew it, an amazing set of business lessons came to the surface.
Here’s what I mean…

Have you ever wondered how some people are able to jump on a trend right when it’s hot? They seem to “know” what’s coming and immediately take advantage of it.
Think Steve Jobs and music.
How did he know that most of us would prefer to carry music around with us but it had to be convenient and look cool?
…PLUS…
He somehow “knew” people would much rather buy music by the “song” instead of the “album”.
His ability to predict what the market wanted gave him a distinct advantage.

I get asked all the time…
Who does your website graphics?
Well there’s actually 3 answers to that.
For my business, I broke my graphic requirements into 3 different categories:
- Headers, Footers and Product Shots
- Graphics for Physical Products
- Salesletter Graphics
Each group are unique which is why I don’t have the same designer do everything. So let’s take a look at who actually does the designing for each group of graphics (I think you’ll be surprised when you get to category 3 – Salesletter Graphics).

When done right, marketing can bring so much enjoyment to your life.
For example, I recently married my beautiful wife Amy (pictures below
). Leading up that wedding we obviously had a whack of bills to pay. Photographers, caterers, fees for the church, DJ, limo the list goes on and on.
Well when these bills hit all at once, it can be quite overwhelming.
Perhaps you’ve experienced a similar situation either for your own wedding, kids going off to college, Christmas bills or you’ve been hit with a big tax bill..
When this happens, your mind goes into overdrive thinking about all the possible ways you can generate some extra cash.
Personally, I find I’m most creative when I’m most desperate
The good news is, marketing can save the day. It did for me and here’s how…
