Barber Shop Business Tips

Barber ShopRecently, I was engaged in a fascinating conversation.

A bunch of guys on my soccer team and I were discussing (of all things)… getting our hair cut!

It all started when someone made a comment about my freshly groomed crop. Well that comment led to another and before I knew it, an amazing set of business lessons came to the surface.

Here’s what I mean…

Thinking Positive - Does It Work?

SnowAfter a recent series of events, I’ve discovered that I have a love/hate relationship with winter.

Generally, I don’t mind the cold weather and snow. I mean, living in Canada you kind of have to :)

Nevertheless, my wife and I enjoy skiing and as a kid I always loved snowmobiling. However, I recently discovered why there are more songs about the California sun versus the Canadian winter!

Here’s what happened…

Marketing Magic

Amy and Stu McLarenWhen done right, marketing can bring so much enjoyment to your life.

For example, I recently married my beautiful wife Amy (pictures below :)). Leading up that wedding we obviously had a whack of bills to pay. Photographers, caterers, fees for the church, DJ, limo the list goes on and on.

Well when these bills hit all at once, it can be quite overwhelming.

Perhaps you’ve experienced a similar situation either for your own wedding, kids going off to college, Christmas bills or you’ve been hit with a big tax bill..

When this happens, your mind goes into overdrive thinking about all the possible ways you can generate some extra cash.

Personally, I find I’m most creative when I’m most desperate :)

The good news is, marketing can save the day. It did for me and here’s how…

Do You Like This Logo?

After a whirlwind tour that took me from Raleigh to Vegas and then to Denver (all within one week), I’m looking forward to finally getting home and back into my regular routine.

However during my first stop at my AM2.0 Platinum Mastermind hosted by Armand Morin, I was forced into a situation that has made me possibly rethink when I launch my new membership.

So that’s where I need your help…

John Reese Video

John Reese VideoOne person I’ve always admired online is John Reese and his recent video demonstrates why.

Using Marketing To Make A Difference

President Bill Clinton and Stu McLarenHas your life ever been changed by one speech?

When I mean “changed”, I’m referring to your actions afterwards.

Did you do things differently because of what you heard?

SIDEBAR: In a minute I’m going to share a powerful full-length video presentation I found from someone who had a MAJOR impact on my view of business.

Consuming information shared by others can be extremely powerful both professionally and personally.

I’m always amazed at how one idea can instantly impact the amount of traffic you get to your website, your conversions, sales or the relationships you build with your subscribers.

My Best Idea Ever…

Amy_Stu.jpgYou’ll enjoy this personal story…

There were tears…

There was laughter…

And there was a TON of jaws hanging wide open.

I’ve been dying to share “my master plan” with you but I had to keep my mouth shut otherwise it would have spoiled the
surprise.

I’ve been planning something very special for someone close to me for the last four months and everything came out in
the open this weekend.

Before I tell you what “it” is, let me just share this with you… Read the rest of this entry »

Marketing Lesson From El Salvador

pics.jpgOver the holiday break I had a chance to do a lot of thinking… especially about this…

How fortunate we are to be able to make money using a simple Internet connection.

I just got back from El Salvador this past weekend where Amy and I were fortunate enough to help a couple orphanages and a small village in the mountains.

It was eye opening.

Before I tell you about the trip and the lesson I learned, I want to publicly say thank you to Jose Espana.

He helped us out tremendously during our time in El Salvador and I really enjoyed the brainstorming we did (which fits perfectly with the rest of this email).

Now here’s what really made me stop and think… Read the rest of this entry »

Lately, we’ve been spending a lot of money.

Amy (my girlfriend) and I just finished building a new house so there have been all kinds of high priced items we needed to purchase. With that being said, I have learned an aweful lot about what works and what doesn’t when it comes to selling high priced items.
