Google Adwords Competitor?

msnad2.jpgAs part of the Idea Incubator training series, Armand Morin discussed something interesting that got me thinking.

He talked about the popularity of Google Adwords and how so many people are using them which is driving up the costs of advertising there.

That’s when he said something that triggered a thought about another alternative solution.

He said with everyone charging to Adwords that it actually works to your advantage to go in the opposite direction and find some alternative advertising methods that nobody is using.

Of course Yahoo comes time mind but the thing that keeps people from using this is the time it takes to get everything set up.

Here’s another alternative…

Microsoft Digital Advertising Solutions

MSN still gets a lot of search traffic and after some discussions with a variety of other marketers I was surprised to hear a couple common points of interest.

1) MSN tends to attract a different type of audience.

It would be interesting to conduct simultaneous tests to see how effective your advertising is with this audience versus the people searching on Google. From what I’ve been told, there is a major difference and it really depends on your product as to it’s effectiveness.

2) Less competition

This is great news because as more and more people flock to Google Adwords, the price is bound to be a lot more stable with MSN (and many times cheaper).

Regardless, it’s worth testing and investigating especially if you are already advertising online.

When you have a chance, check it out and see if you could be generating more leads elsewhere at a cheaper cost (it never hurts to investigate).

You made one statement that everyone talks about but few people actually do.

Testing… when you come across a new source TEST, and keep testing your old, and new advertising to increase conversions.

Internet Marketing may still seem like the wild west to allot of folks, but marketing has been around for a long time and testing then as now is the best thing you can do in any advertising media, to know when you have the best ads running.

Keep up the great info Stu, I look forward to your next email.
